Another change of plans

Via Pietra Porzia, Frascati, May 30, 2010—
WE CAME TO THIS TOWN specifically because of a place listed in Osterie d'Italia: I Googled a hotel on the laptop from an Autogrill on the autostrada, and found a nice place, and at 8:30 or so we drove into the heart of town and took a nice walk around looking for the place. Alas when we found it it turned out to be closed; I don't know why. So we ate just next door, and had Antipasto rustico — the usual assortment of salume, vegetables, cheese (delicious the local tomme-like "Lucifer"), bruschetti, fennel, olives, and so on. I didn't find a pasta on the menu I really wanted, so asked for a spaghetti caccio e pepe, and the waitress really brightened when I did, and brought a huge plate of perfectly cooked spaghetti dusted with lots of pecorino and fresh-ground black pepper.
