Pizza, delivered

Eastside Road, Healdsburg, March 20, 2009

DOWN TO SANTA ROSA tonight to have dinner with a couple of old friends. No one felt like cooking, so we had a Martini and ordered pizza delivered from Borolo's — one Martinez (cilantro pesto, mozzarella, jack cheese, chicken, Anaheim chiles (mild) and fresh tomato); one North Beach (olive oil and garlic, mozzarella, fontina cheese, prosciutto, and mushrooms). I don't believe that chicken belongs on a pizza, and I certainly don't go for ham, pineapple, kalamata olives, feta, or bean sprouts and peanuts. So we stuck with the North Beach, though I must say the Martinez was surprisngly good. You just never know. Caesar salad on the side, also Borolo's, also good.

Have I told you about Dopo's?

They're on Piedmont not far from the ice cream place.

Whoever the guy is running it, knows his pizza. Classic thin crust, delicate and irresistable toppings. With nice, vins ordinaires to go with.

Then there's Pizza Rustica on College just across from Diesel Bookstore, they do all kinds but they're generous with toppings and their reds are meaty.

Down the street from there is Marica. This is the couple which used to run Christopher's on Solano years ago. Marica is now run as a seafood place, and for my money, no one does it better than Chris. Nedda runs the restaurant out front, and it's informal and easy. Give it a try. His sauces are to die for.
